Kirkby ( KUR-bee) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley, Merseyside, England. The town, historically in Lancashire, has a size of 4,070 acres (16.5 km) is 5 miles (8 km) north of Huyton and 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Liverpool. Evidence of Bronze Age argument has been noted even though the first speak to evidence of a harmony dates to 1086 via the Doomsday Book. The town was mainly farmland until the mid-20th century due to building of ROF Kirkby, the largest Royal Ordanance Factory filling munitions.
